As we are fast approaching Christmas most of our local towns will be holding festive markets and of course there are the bigger city events taking place right across the North West and Yorkshire.

Now and until 31st January 2018 – Festival of Tales Exhibition, Chapel Gallery, Ormskirk, L39 4QR. Humour, imagination and seriously good art are the key ingredients, so if you enjoy being creative, want to delve a bit deeper into history or just be entertained, then this is the place be!

Saturday 9th December 2017 – CRL Guided Walk, an easy 8 mile walk starting at Bamber Bridge and finishing at Preston. All CRL guided walks are led by experienced leaders from the Lancashire Rail Ramblers and full details can be found on Community Rail Lancashire Guided Walks.

Sunday 10th December 2017 – Skipton Christmas Market, Skipton’s Famous Market in full festive swing, craft stalls, festive food, Santa’s Grotto, reindeer and much, much more! Full details on

Saturday 16th December 2017 – Lancashire Rail Ramblers Guided Walks, two guided walks starting at Wigan. Walk 1 (return Chorley) is a moderate 13 miles and Walk 2 is an easy 7.5 miles – full details on Lancashire Rail Ramblers Guided Walks. All walks are led by experienced walk leaders from the Rail Ramblers.
