Exhibition in Blackburn Museum & Art Gallery

Every Tuesday – Clitheroe Country Market, in the United Reformed Church Hall on Moor Lane, Clitheroe BB7 1AZ, 09:30 – 12:00 – a country market with quality home baked, hand made and home grown produce. A wide selection of goods from a co-operative of local producers. Home made cakes, pies and jams also handicraft items such as cards, knits and textile gifts. More details on

Third Saturday of every month – Clitheroe Piano Meet Up, would you like to meet fellow players, share knowledge and develop your skills on a Bechstein grand piano? All abilities and styles welcome, no experience required, no pressure to play or just come along to listen! These are free events held in Clitheroe Library between 13:00 – 15:30.

Now and until Saturday 22nd February 2020 – Danger Signals, an exhibition in Brierfield Library to showcase the work around the ‘Let’s Connect Briefield Railway Station’ project being undertaken by Connect East Lancashire, CRL along with Sam Rushton & Rob Parkinson, two local artists. The library is open everyday except Sunday & Wednesday.

Now and until 31st March 2020 – Hidden Gems Photography Exhibition, ‘Hidden Gems’ is a photography project that has involved local schools, community groups and charities. A wide range of people have explored their local areas and worked with artists to discover and share the hidden gems in their neighbourhoods. In Liverpool we have partnered with Crisis to create some artwork for Moorfields Station. In celebration of the work we are very pleased to be exhibiting at Avenue HQ, Mann Island in Liverpool. Now and until Saturday 25th July 2020 – William Morris Wallpaper, a DesignLab Nation Exhibition, On display from 7th September 2019, Blackburn Museum and Art Gallery hosts a new display of wallpaper with samples on loan from the Victoria & Albert Museum. Saturday 15th February 2020 – Rail Ramblers Guided Walks, the Lancashire Rail Ramblers will be leading two guided walks in the Chinley area. The first is a moderately strenuous 11 miles (alight Chinley return Edale) and walk 2 is a moderately easy 8 miles (alight & return Chinley). Full details on Lancashire Rail Rambler Walks

Saturday 15th February 2020 – BEST Climate Action, are you keen to see local action in the Bentham area in response to the climate emergency? Would you like to be involved? Join the discussion in Bentham Town Hall, between 10:00 & 11:30 and meet others who care about what sort of world we are leaving for our children.

Wednesday 19th February 2020 – CRL Guided Walk, please note that the walk planned for today has been cancelled due to engineering work in the East Lancashire area.

Wednesday 19th February 2020 – Blackburn Cathedral Lunchtime Recital, This week’s recitalist is Tom Bell (Royal College of Organists) admission is free but there is a retiring collection to help cover costs. 13:00 – 14:00.

Wednesday 19th February to Saturday 22nd February 2020 – Cinderella, this year’s pantomime by Bentham’s Got Talent in the Town Hall, Station Road, Bentham. 19th – 21st panto starts 19:00 and 22nd panto starts 18:00 tickets £5.50/£3.50 available form Temptations, Bentham or call 015242 61868.

Saturday 22nd February 2020 – LASRUG Coffee Morning, the spring coffee morning in support of the Lancaster & Skipton Rail Users Group – Bentham Town Hall, Station Road, Bentham. 10:00 – 11:30 plenty of stalls, a raffle & tombola. LASRUG Coffee Morning Spring 2020

Saturday 22nd February 2020 – Danger Signals, the closing event of the exhibition of art work by Rob Parkinson & Sam Rushton and the people of Brierfield. Brierfield Library 10:00 – 12:00 with speeches at 11:00. Refreshments will also be served.

Tuesday 3rd March 2020 – Community Rail Lancashire Guided Walk, an easy 6 mile walk starting at Entwistle (10:17) and returning from Darwen. All guided walks are led by volunteers from the Lancashire Rail Ramblers – full details on CRL Guided Walks

Friday 6th March 2020 – Defibrillator Quiz & Supper Night, a fund raising quiz evening with pie & peas supper in Bentham Town Hall, Station Road, Bentham to raise money for a defibrillator to be installed on Bentham Station. Event starts 19:30 – Teams of four, £7.50 per person FOBS Defibrillator Quiz and Supper

Saturday 7th March 2020 – Rail Ramblers Guided Walks, the Lancashire Rail Ramblers will be leading two guided walks in the Sowerby Bridge/Ripponden area. The first is a moderately strenuous 12 miles (alight Halifax return Sowerby Bridge) and walk 2 is a moderate 7.5 miles (alight Sowerby Bridge return Halifax). Make a Beeline for the Station

‘Make a Beeline for the Station!’ is a community marketing project, that combined the vital elements of local education and wider group engagement with tourism attractions and professional marketing. The project, funded by an Arriva Rail North Seedcorn Grant, is designed to encourage use of Northern’s hourly weekday service from Preston to Ormskirk and then on into Liverpool using Merseyrail services.

Discover Amazing Women by Rail

Discover Amazing Women by Rail is a project initiated by the Mid Cheshire Line CRP and invites people to leave their car at home and use the train (along with buses and trams) to explore the fascinating, and often hidden, histories of women who lived and worked in areas along the Mid Cheshire and Calder Valley railway lines, including the Blackburn to Manchester via Todmorden route.
