Great North Rail Project Week 16

Network Rail’s Team Orange continued to work throughout the extreme weather conditions that brought low temperatures, snow and strong winds last week.

With a great deal of the electrification equipment and signalling structures now installed, Blackpool is one step closer to a greener, quieter and more reliable railway.

Team Orange are also working day and night in the Poulton-le-Fylde area to complete drainage upgrade work. The new drainage is needed to support an improved track layout and when complete will help to deliver a more reliable railway.

Work at  Poulton-le-Fylde also includes realignment of the stations platforms and adjusting the canopies ahead of electric trains operating.

Work also continues at Kirkham and Wesham to install the new lifts to the platforms.
