Great North Rail Project Week 13

Steelwork springs up at Blackpool North!

It’s been yet another action packed week on the Preston to Blackpool route. Now over two thirds of the way into the nineteen week closure, a further milestone has been reached as Blackpool North’s new overhead line structures begin to appear.

Following work to realign the tracks and completely rebuild platforms at Blackpool North, Team Orange are ramping up the installation of overhead line equipment at the station. The new steel structures will carry electric wires which will help make way for greener, quieter and more spacious trains to travel on the route.

Work is progressing well in the Poulton-le-Fylde area to upgrade the railway. Despite the hail, snow and ice, Team Orange continue to work tirelessly at Poulton-le-Fylde station to rebuild the platform edges and install new overhead and signalling equipment.
