First On Track To Train

Community Rail Lancashire had an excellent time last week with our very first ‘On Track to Train’ participants from Pear Tree school Preston!

‘On Track to Train’ is our new employment programme for underrepresented youth groups in rail; young people with additional needs and disabilities, young women, those from BAME backgrounds and others.

Working in partnership with the Mid-Cheshire CRP, a wide range of TOCs and rail groups/operators, we work with the young people to provide a holistic and comprehensive rail and community rail employment experience.

Last week, this included sessions with Network Rail, Northern, Virgin and Merseyrail.

The sessions aim to provide a wide range of experiences that cover different roles and types of career in rail, and give young people an opportunity to experience, explore and question different aspects of rail and community rail.
