DalesRail Sundays 18 & 25 June 2017

The DalesRail service on Sunday 18th June 2017 will offer four guided walks led by the Lancashire Rail Ramblers.

DalesRail arrives at Kirkby Stephen 28.08.16

Walk 1 – a Strenuous B walk of 14 miles Alight Ribblehead return Horton in Ribblesdale.

Ribblehead – Runscar Scar – Ribblehead House – Thorns – Ribble Way – Nether Lodge – God’s Bridge – Old Ing – Pennine Way – Lord’s Seat – Cosh Water Gap – Swarth Gill Gate – Foxup Moor – Plover Hill – Pen y Ghent – Churn Milk Hole – Dub Cote – Horton in Ribblesdale.

Walk 2 – a Moderate D walk of 10 miles Alight and return Appleby.

Appleby – Stank Lane – Brackenthwaite – Keisley – Bow Hall – Dufton – Greenhow – Castle Hill – Black Hill – Hungriggs – Appleby

Walk 3 – an Easy E walk of 8 miles Alight and return Kirkby Stephen.

Stenkrith Bridge – Old Railway to Cote Garth – Winton – Pennine Journey Path to Kirkby Stephen then via Stenkrith Park to Station.

Walk 4 – A Snail-pace Stroll G walks of 2-3 miles (2-3 hours) Alight and return Carlisle. The city that played football for a Scottish Queen. The City Messenger who drank strong ale. Tales of a tavern fit for a King, of Sir William Lowther’s demise, of Miles MacInnes Morning and of the Muckle town bell. Your visitor of the week – James I.

Please note that an error has been found in the printed and downloadable versions of the DalesRail brochure.

Due to essential works in the Blackburn area the DalesRail service is being operated by replacement bus service between Preston and Hellifield on Sundays 25th June & 2nd July 2017. It has been decided to cancel all walks on these Sundays. The walks on Sunday 9th July 2017 have also been revised.
