CRL Working With Northern Apprentices

Community Rail Lancashire will be hosting Arriva Rail North (Northern) Apprentices for the next 12 months to deliver 20% of the schemes for apprentices working in train planning and operational roles.

To start the programme half of the apprentices have spent a week with CRL visiting other CRP’s and various stakeholders, throughout the week the apprentices were briefed on project planning processes within Community Rail with the aim to plan, manage and deliver their own project with CRL over the next 12 months, by the end of the week the apprentices presented their business cases to transform stations.

Part of this venture involves a Lancashire station and a Yorkshire station, with apprentices planning their project at Blackburn and Bingley. Apprentices stated the week was thought-provoking, particularly meeting other CRPs and seeing their projects including Bentham’s ‘Dementia Friendly stations’ project and Cumbria’s ‘Turning Point’ project.

The second round of apprentices will be completing their induction early November, ahead of the projects moving into their project planning stages, CRL are very excited to be supporting the apprentices through a structured programme of support for the next 12 months.
