CRL Meets Cardinal Newman

The Education Team from Community Rail Lancashire spent the day at Cardinal Newman College speaking to students about volunteering.

This type of promotion for the CRL Summer Programme (and Daisy’s gift of persuasion) seemed to work much better in getting student’s over especially because of all the freebies available, all of the Northern pens we took, reflective wrist bands, key-rings and sweets went!

The team tweeted lots about the event which generated some social media interest with Northern engaging too!

The main hook for the student’s was the free rail ticket offer from Northern which enticed them to provide their email addresses for more info on the summer programme and to be entered into the draw for the free rail ticket. The winner will be drawn on Friday 31st March.

Overall CRL have gathered a lot of students emails and had a successful experience – much more so then presenting to a group of students as we have done previously and seen little engagement.

The team also managed to chat to a couple of tutors that came around the event about this being a potential placement for students during their courses and they seemed really keen that this could be a good option, again this is a new approach that CRL are looking to take forward and Runshaw College at Leyland may be next!
