Virgin Trains Apprentices

Community Rail Lancashire is hosting five Virgin Trains apprentices for two weeks to give them an introduction to community rail.

The apprentices are based in Accrington and at Burnley Manchester Road station, with Community Rail Lancashire. During the two weeks they will be getting an understanding of the work of CRL including their award winning education programme.

They will also be carrying out some customer surveys at Blackburn and Burnley stations, and seeing the work that the volunteers of the Friends of Stations groups carry out.

The group will also be looking at the two main stations in Burnley and coming up with some station development projects with the aim of increasing awareness of both the local railway and the surrounding community. The main theme of the projects will be:

+  How can we improve the station for customers; and
+  how can we increase the use of the stations and the trains.
