The Association of Community Rail Partnerships has awarded Community Rail Lancashire a grant towards the costs of its Station to Station events to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday.
The events will be taking place throughout CRL’s area on Saturday 11th June 2016 and the money from the Small Grants Fund will help towards the cost of bunting to decorate the stations involved and also to provide 1500 sticks of ‘Royal Rock’ to be handed out in goody bags on the day.
The three main stations Accrington, Blackburn and Burnley Manchester Road will be holding bigger events with the Education Suite open during the morning at Accrington and a number of led walks and cycle rides finishing at Blackburn station at around 11:00. Local Rail User Groups and Friends of Stations groups will also be on hand to talk to visitors about the work they do to support the CRPs. Free refreshments will be on hand at all three stations for visitors and passengers alike.
A number of the smaller unstaffed stations will be decorated with bunting to help passing customers to get in the royal mood. Go here to get more details of events taking place near you!
