A Twinning between Bentham and Mytholmroyd stations – September 2016

Twinning

This event, has been developed by Gerald Townson of the Friends of Bentham Station (FoBS), and Geoff and Sue Mitchell of the Mytholmroyd Station Partnership (MSP), and endorsed by Pete Myers of Northern. This will be a ‘first’ for Northern in this it’s inaugural year and will support their new station adoption programme.

The twinning can be seen as a more permanent ‘marker’ of the Station to Station events that took place in June 2016 celebrating the Queen’s 90th birthday and as an encouragement to other station adopters and community rail partnerships to come together to share ideas and developments.

Both events will take pace at the stations at 12 noon – all welcome.

Aims and Objectives

+  To forge lasting links between FoBS and MSP, for the benefit of both groups and both stations and encourage the sharing and development of ideas;
+  To publicise the benefits of station adoption/community rail lines through this event to TOCs, Network Rail and other rail and council bodies;
+  To encourage participation of the wider community in station adoption, across the north and elsewhere;
+  To promote friendship and cooperation between station groups along both the Bentham and Calder Valley lines and elsewhere;
+  To support new station adopters with examples of best practice as seen by this presentation of ‘new’ to the rail infrastructure, of this twinning event;
+  To develop marketing and tourism for the two areas; ‘Yorkshire is Fabulous’, including display/information materials; and
+  To encourage rail promotions to both lines and areas of Yorkshire and associated advantageous ticketing.
