A group of primary school pupils from China were the latest children to visit the bunker at Accrington station.
The children from the Licang No. 2 Experimental Primary School in Qingdao, which is on the Pacific coast in NE China, are on exchange trip to Padiham Green Primary School and Head Teacher Mark Dixon asked if they could come to see the educational facility at Accrington.
Community Rail Lancashire’s Brian Haworth & Richard Watts were on hand along with Janet Ennis, Deputy Head at Padiham Green, to give the children a tour around the bunker and to explain the type of exercises that are normally carried out during a school visit. One of the pupils acted as translator throughout the visit and on the train journey from Rose Grove down to Accrington.
