Community Rail Lancashire, the informal body that oversees community rail in Lancashire, is to become a company limited by guarantee.
The process to incorporate Community Rail Lancashire to form a company limited by guarantee is being delivered by Co-operatives UK and is being supported by a grant from the Association of Community Rail Partnerships (ACoRP) Small Grants Fund.
It is hoped that everything will be formalised before the start of the new Northern franchise, which has been awarded to Arriva Rail North Ltd.
Neighbouring CRP the Bentham Line (Leeds, Lancaster & Morecambe CRP) is already a company limited by guarantee and CRL will continue to work closely with them and also the Furness Line CRP which covers the line between Carnforth and Barrow-in-Furness.
